Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU12 Warehouse Mobile Device Updates
In November 2016, AX2012 R3 users were happy to receive cumulative update 12 (CU12) from Microsoft. It included numerous updates for additional functionality and bug fixes. As more and more companies adopt the use of RF scanners, we see Microsoft acknowledge the need for additional mobile device functionality with the solutions they issued in CU12. In this blog we are to explore how to setup some of the new features.
Cancel Work
A new mobile device menu item has been added to cancel work. With this functionality, you can remove the existing work and move the inventory.
To setup this feature, navigate to Warehouse Management > Setup > Mobile Device Menu Item
- Create a new record
- Enter the Menu item name and Title as desired
- Select Indirect as the Mode
- Enter the Activity code as Cancel
On the proposal form, there is now a new drop down where you can select one or more legal entities to run the proposal for.
Move Inventory
Warehouse workers can now move inventory from a mobile device. Inventory can be moved even if work has been created against part or all of the quantity that you are moving.
This change is a worker specific feature that needs to be setup.
To setup this feature, navigate to Warehouse Management > Setup > Work Users > Worker
- Find and select your worker on the left side of the form
- Open the Work Fast Tab and select the check box to allow movement of inventory
Inventory Status
In a previous R3 update, inventory status was a new dimension to make inventory available or block it so it cannot be used by way of journal entries. Now in CU12, when you bring in inventory, you can set this status from your RF device.
To setup this feature, navigate to Warehouse Management > Setup > Mobile Device Menu Item
- The Display Inventory Status checkbox is available under Adjust in, Adjust out, and Movement menu items
